Cookies Policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are files that can be downloaded to your device through web pages. They play an essential role in providing many information society services. Among other things, they allow a website to store and retrieve information about a user's or device's browsing habits and, depending on the information obtained, they can be used to recognize the user and improve the service offered.

Types of cookies

Depending on the entity that manages the domain from which cookies are sent and processes the obtained data, cookies can be classified into two types:

  • First-party cookies: These are sent to the user's terminal from a device or domain managed by the website owner and from which the requested service is provided.
  • Third-party cookies: These are sent to the user's terminal from a device or domain that is not managed by the website owner, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies.

If cookies are installed from a device or domain managed by the website owner but the collected information is handled by a third party, they cannot be considered first-party cookies.

There is also a second classification based on how long they remain stored in the user's browser, which includes:

  • Session cookies: Designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page. They are typically used to store information that is only relevant for the requested service during a single session (e.g., a list of purchased products).
  • Persistent cookies: The data remains stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a defined period by the cookie owner, which can range from a few minutes to several years.

Lastly, cookies can be classified into six categories based on their purpose:

  • Technical cookies: These allow users to navigate a website, platform, or application and use its various options or services, such as controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering elements in a shopping cart, completing a purchase, registering for an event, using security elements during navigation, storing content for video or audio streaming, or sharing content via social networks.
  • Personalization cookies: These enable users to access the service with predefined general features based on criteria in the user’s device, such as language, browser type, or regional settings.
  • Analytics cookies: These allow their owners to monitor and analyze user behavior on linked websites. The data collected is used to measure website, application, or platform activity and to create user browsing profiles to introduce service improvements.
  • Advertising cookies: These enable the most efficient management of advertising spaces.
  • Behavioral advertising cookies: These store user behavior information obtained through continuous observation of browsing habits, allowing the development of a specific profile to display relevant advertising.
  • External social media cookies: These allow visitors to interact with content from different social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and are generated only for users of those networks. The conditions for using these cookies and the collected information are regulated by the privacy policy of the respective platform.
